The weeding
Although it is not the right time, we are currently carrying out the weeding of the pruned coffee trees during the month of March last year. Normally, weeding is done six months after pruning, but the large number of activities has delayed this workshop.
Once the Recepa pruning (cutting of the main trunk at knee height) is done, the main trunk is stimulated in such a way that it starts to generate new shoots and in about three weeks we already start to see the buds of the new ‘sons’. Over the next few months we will start to see the growth of the new branches. As we said, after six months we have to make a selection of the best branches and leave a maximum of two branches that are as opposite to each other as possible, so that the growth of these branches is as symmetrical as possible.
